APRIL 2008
2nd of April. This weekend sees probably one of the greatest events of the year, the grand national… and it’s also the semi finals of the F A cup. Superb if you like sport, April 4th Easter has just gone and things are just about to happen, many hotels and bars have opened but for those that haven’t, it’s time for the big clean ,the same for bars and shops in time for the new season. I`ve just heard today that on April 1st for all you golf fans it’s time for the San An open to be held at Trevor`s mini golf ,on the San Antonio bay road,
This should be good day and a lot of fun ,so why not come along, hope to see you there.
April 7th A nice way to spend a day is a boat trip to formentera , setting off from san Antonio harbour a 2 hour cruise takes you along the coast line passing all the coves and inlets only visible from a boat. Along the way you will also pass Ibiza town with its cathedral and fortress standing high above the rocks on arrival at formentera harbour you are in short walking distance of the beaches or for a small optional charge you can take a coach tour of the island at one vantage point close to the lighthouse you can see the whole of the lsland you are then taken to a beach where you can relax until it is time to return to the boat along the way home you can expect to see a few dophins which tend to follow the boat you normally arrive back at san Antonio at around 6 pm. This is a worth while trip and highly recommended You can also purchase drinks whilst on the boat this is a reasonable priced trip.
April 11th Good meals in San Antonio Whilst on holiday in San Antonio, as well as being able to get good English food, why not try some of the local dishes many of the Spanish bars specialize in tapas’ etc. One I would recommend is Chamonix just across the road from our Formentera apt’s . on a Sunday they do a special 3 course menu of the day, which consists salad, paella ,and a choice of dessert for just 10 euros per person, this is very good value.
April 14th
If you want have a relaxing afternoon in San Antonio why not walk along towards San Antonio bay and have a drink at the tulip bar facing the sea absolutely chilling and in April what’s it like in the U K. It’s now all systems go as everybody gets ready for opening,t here’s quite a lot already open especially the gift shops At this time of year you get a lot of Spanish pensioners from the Mainland also lots of people looking for summer work Some good information make sure you get a N I E number. This is only obtainable from the main police station in Ibiza Town and for this you must take your passport you can also expect to queue for quite a while so don’t leave it until the last minute. P S you need this number to work in bars or for P R work. April 17th
I’ve just been to the San Antonio at Trevor’s mini golf and you couldn’t have wished for a better day, with lots of sunshine, As I left to come to work, the state of play looked as though it could turn out to be a three day event, whoops wrong sport. But the main party on the course headed by Cocoa looked as though they were nearing the end. Back in the club-house or to you and me the bar…it looked as though they were getting ready for the night .Steve Spencer setting up his music for another great 60’s night, as soon as I find out how it all finished I will let you know.’
.... It’s Saturday again and I’ve just watched my team Bolton lose again after a 2 goal lead and against 10 men ,they have got to be odds on for the drop, I say this with no disrespect to other teams at foot of the table, but I think Bolton are going down. If you share my views please e mail me on allan@grupoplayasol.com. By the way the score was 3 -2 to Arsenal, Hope to hear from you thanks again Allan. Apart from football, it’s nearly the end of March and just one month away from the new season, I hope to give you more information as soon as I can.
April 20th (road works) In San Antonio they have just started to lower the speed ramps near the shouting man. On the main San Antonio –Ibiza road re-surfacing is still going on, but should be finished for the start of the season. Saw some good football this weekend and some good results for my team Bolton, Who knows they may stay up after all,a good result beating Middlesboro’1-0 away from home.and moving out of the bottom three. This week sees the semi-finals of the champions league should be good Tuesday it’s Liverpool v Chelsea. Wednesday it’s Barcelona v Man-Utd Back to today for people coming on holiday this week ,the weather is good and so is the forecast, a little windy during the night but dry,the sun starts to come up about 7am and this morning at 8-45am in Ibiza Town it was 16 degrees .
April 29th Well just two days before the start of season and things are really starting to happen, many of the bars in the west end are open. Tonight sees Man Utd v Barcelona second leg of the cup. For you people just arriving it’s now getting quite warm round about 25 degrees and the weather forecast is good. The road works on the Ibiza-San Antonio road are now at an advanced stage they are doing the road markings and should be finished by the weekend, also a lot of the building work will finish and that normally marks the start of season.
April 30th Well I don’t like saying it but well done Man Utd ,tonight it’s Liverpool v Chelsea and it’s going to be a all English Final .well it’s something to look ahead to as we’re out of the European championship. Also today I would to wish the queen of Holland a happy birthday and I must hold my hand up and say I didn’t know ,but I must admit it’s going to be a fantastic day and night at the tulip bar in San Antonio ,when I left there was a lot of people there ,and it was all done out in orange absolutely fantastic.what a setting for a birthday celebration.
